Lumberton Fire Company shared a post.

What is mutual aid? Why do I see fire trucks from other towns when there is a fire? Simply put fire departments help each other. Federal standards require us to assemble a particular number of firefighters at the scene of a fire in a prescribed amount of time. Without the assistance of mutual aid most suburban departments can not meet the standards to operate safely at fires. This is why you will often see us responding to other towns as well as those towns assisting us. A special thank you to our neighboring departments that regularly respond to help us. Lumberton Fire Company would like to thank our public works department and our members for hanging our newly preserved banner in it’s new home. This banner has made it to it’s 3rd firehouse and means a lot to our members!
